Celebrity Personality Disorder

Hey give her a break - maybe the old broad is drunk!

There seems to be an epidemic of 'foot in mouth' disease sweeping across the celebrity population lately. For instance there was Sharon Stone's bizarre and facile statements about the China earthquake. Now Sharon has been going around telling anyone who'll listen - and plenty of those who'd rather not - that she has a 160 IQ (that's almost James Woods smart!). However in light of her recent statements I suspect either she was making the IQ story up - celebrities do that sometimes: either to feel more important, or just to see if they can get people to believe it; or that the botox is starting to seep through her skull and into her brains. Just to get everyone up to speed, here's what SS said: "I'm not happy with the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans. I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else … and I'm wondering how should we deal with the Olympics because of they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who's a good friend of mine," Stone said in the TMZ video. "And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I thought, 'Is that karma? When you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?'"

Two things stand out in the statement immediately: one - Sharon expresses her self in simple, emotive terms like "that makes me sad", and "I'm not happy", such as a 6 year old child might use. Not a particularly thoughtful 6 year old at that. 2 - she manages to hi jack a conversation that was supposed to be about the 50 000 or so lost souls in China, and makes it all about her. She starts off with the personal pronoun, and uses it about 5 more times in the quoted piece - such as "I'm not happy", or "I'm thinking", and even a little name dropping, as in the case of "my good friend, the Dalai Lama" (I'm sure that His Holiness consults with her on a regular basis, to get her feelings on various important world events). Well I'm not happy about her narcissism. I feel irritated by her, and I can't help thinking that the Dalai Lama should be more particular in his choice of friends. You get the point. Incidentally I'm not the only one who isn't happy with SS, or feels bad about her narcissism. Chinese theater chains have banned her films, based on her comments.

Still, we have come away from this with something - and that is insight into the little muddle known as Sharon Stone. She's obviously a person of very strong feelings. Letters from the Dalai Lama can make her cry. 50 000 dead people in China, not so much. She's a sentimental little devil, but she can't help how she feels. Chalk that up to Borderline Personality Disorder (also known as Celebrity Personality Disorder).
