Beloved TV actor Peter Falk made headlines a little while back, after experiencing a messy public freak out. Falk was seen wandering around the streets of Beverly Hills waving his arms and shouting. He was messy and disoriented. Naturally some one called the police. Good thing too since Falk was wandering in and out of traffic, and was nearly hit a few times.

Well what exactly happened to Columbo?? Well it seems that Falk was visiting his bank in Beverly hills. After concluding his business Falk, who was dressed more like a gardener than a high profile TV actor, 'forgot' where he parked his car. In what is being described as a 'senior moment', and disoriented Falk became agitated, and started wandering out into traffic, while waving his arms frantically, and shouting obscenities. When bystanders asked if he needed assistance, they were told to 'fuck off'.

Now this is where Falk's wife of many years, Shera Danese comes into the picture. She's the one who's explaining Falk's recent attack of geriatric profanity, and she sounds like a lady with a pretty strong case of denial. Although it must be said that Shera has an answer for everything, and could probably find work spin doctoring for Tom Cruise!

In fact Shera has a point by point defense of her husband's conduct. For instance his shabby attire: Shera responds that he played Columbo on TV for 30 years. That's his look. Get used to it. Misplacing an automobile: We've all parked our car and then lost track of it. The rage: well the whole incident was blown out of proportion (I like this one, turning the tables rather than staying on defensive and trying to explain.). What about the police showing up? According to Shera some busy body with too much time and not enough of a life on their hands over reacted, and called in the Cavalry. I just hate those meddling busy bodies!

Well things clued up happily enough, and without the use of tasers. Peter cracked the case of the missing car, and all on his own. Then he drove himself back home, without further incident. That's not really as bad as it sounds - remember that Britney Spears is also a LA driver. Beverly Hills Police Rep Mark Rosen said that Mr Falk has been warned to look both ways before venturing out into traffic, and beyond that no action is possible at this time. Shera even managed to talk Peter into that haircut, by showing him his video footage on the local news. He drove back into Beverly Hills to see the barber the very next day. I love happy endings. I will say this though, considering the way Shera had her answers all lined up, she definitely knows that somethings wrong. On the other hand, Peter is still more lucid than President George W Bush, and George drove the ship of state, although it must be said that he too has trouble with cars from time to time.
