Ever wonder what happened to NYPD Blue's Gail O' Grady? She was temporarily and "It Girl", and a sort of Katherine Heigl of the 90's (How many actresses are named Katherine nowadays anyway?). Many failed to see why all the fuss was being made over some girl every bit as pretty as a small town weathergirl, and before too long she dropped from the radar. Just because we haven't heard about her for awhile doesn't mean that nothings been happening to her. In fact Gail's life has been very interesting, and the former TV hottie has been getting into her share of mischief, and then some!

Seems that Gail has found a substitute for the excitement of being on a hit series, and being talked about in the tabs. That substitute is the excitement of compulsive gambling. In fact her gambling is so compulsive that she's just declared personal bankruptcy for the second time in 15 years! More than this, before the ink was even dry on the bankruptcy paper work, Gail was off to the sunny Bahamas for more casino gambling! Gail's bankruptcy is too serious for this kind of frivolous behavior, since she owes money to, among others, casinos (naturally), credit cards, mortgage companies, family, friends, colleagues, probably some shady and dangerous characters, and scariest of the lot - the IRS! Now the IRS doesn't care if you've been on TV, and they don't mess around. They'll put your ass in jail. Just ask Wesley Snipes!

Now Gail's friends have tried to warn her. However she has the same pat response, "Gambling's not illegal, so leave me alone." If they press the point, she gets defensive and rude "How dare you try and tell me what to do!" So her fiends are at a loss, but not as much of a loss as Gail. She's completely addicted to video poker, slot machines, blackjack, and others games of chance.

Going bust at the casinos hasn't been the only thing that Ms O Grady has been up to. She's currently working on her 5th divorce, from contractor John Stamatakis. Now take a wild guess what ruined their relationship. It's probably for the best, since the whole marriage seemed like it was doomed from the start. Gail married Stamatakis only a month or so after giving birth to her Michael. Now I know what you're thinking and it's not what you think. the child was by a previous boyfriend Chris Byers. Chris had just finished giving Gail a hefty $500 000, which she proceeded to squander gambling. Now how john missed a danger signal like that, I don't know (unless he had his head too far up Ms O Grady's ass to see the light!). Maybe he was hoping all that disappearing money was due to a relatively benign and chic drug problem. I will say that this confirms my suspicions that professional actors, as a group, tend to have some serious personality problems, not to mention self destructive tendencies. Oh well John, better luck next time!
