Hilary Clinton Finds Wiggle Room

Hilary Clinton runs afoul of fund raising regulations once again, and this time with the help of Sir Elton John. Judicial Watch was not amused, damned cry babies! These days Hilary Clinton can't seem to turn around without running into some kind of a scandal. Her 'heroic' venture into war torn Bosnia is still fresh in the public's mind. That's the one where she claimed to have bravely dodged sniper fire while on her mission of good will. When the video surfaced, as it usually does these days, there was no sniper fire. Hilary did bravely dodge some hand written poetry pushed at her by some Bosnian school girls however. Anyone who has ever been faced with a girl scout during their cookie drives knows just how harrowing an experience that can be!

This time it seems that Hilary has not only clumsily lurched into another mild scandal (that woman displays all the grace of a bull in a china shop!), but dragged one of her friends from the entertainment community down with her. Seems Hilary was engaged in what must be by far her favorite pass time - fund raising. This time she even had a sure fire hook to get the money rolling in, a special guest star in the person of Sir Elton John.

Sir Elton can be bitchy and disagreeable, but he still is a draw where ever he goes. This time he was holding a special "Pro Hilary" concert at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall. The bash was a success, with some 3 million dollars being raised to help Hilary on her way. It got some high level attention, too. That attention came from an organization called Judicial Watch, and they made yet another accusation of fund raising irregularities against Clinton. Even though there wasn't a Buddhist monk carrying a brown paper bag full of money anywhere in sight, it seems that Hilary once again some how managed to step on the line.

Judicial Watch points out that there is a law prohibiting foreign nationals from fund raising in American Elections. This is to keep everything in the family, and free of out side influence on behalf of international agendas. While it might be only a technical violation, Judicial Watch points out that Sir Elton is British, and there by barred from involvement in American election fund raising.

The chips are so far down for Hilary now that she won't ignore any accusation, no matter how obscure or technical. So she went straight to work in search of wiggle room. Luckily she has an expert right on hand. Her husband Bill is a sort of expert in wiggle room. You might even say that it's Slick Willie's specialty.

Well sure enough, something resembling wiggle room has emerged. It seems that there is a loop hole in the regulations. At least Hilary insists that there is. Her spokesperson tells the New York Times, "Hillary's campaign has complied with the law. Since 1987... foreign nationals may volunteer their time for campaigns on an uncompensated basis. Elton John is simply volunteering his uncompensated time to appear at the concert. This appearance is consistent with past rulings". So since Sir Elton wasn't donating money, only his valuable time and talent, Hilary & Co. insist that everything is kosher. Since Sir Elton is a valuable show business commodity, I'd hate to see the lawyers pore over the technicalities of this. What do you suppose the equivalent cash value of his services might amount to? Still, taken in perspective - that is in the wake of a 8 year regime that began with dimpled chads and ended in bizarre 911 conspiracy theories, Hilary's Clinton style rule bending isn't the worst thing that could happen. At least she didn't bolt the Radio City Music Hall doors, infect guests with anthrax, and then demand cash in exchange for treatment. She has to save a few moves for the home stretch.

Hilary Clinton's Special Guest Stares

Freedom of choice: Which one of these women do you want as your President?

As Barak Obama shoots ahead in the public opinion poles by as much as 15% to 20%, the race seems all but over. If that isn't bad enough - for Hilary Clinton - Camile Paglia seems to be putting another nail in the coffin of her Democratic Nomination Campaign. Read why Paglia says that women shouldn't vote for Clinton in her Telegraph article.

Wondertrash word of the day:

Whiskey priest: Some one with at least enough moral character to know when they're doing wrong. Not that this phrase is meant in any way to be a commentary on either of the Clintons. Somehow I'm always reminded much more of poor old Ted Kennedy by the term.

Wondertrash quotation of the day:

It's misleading to suppose there's any basic difference between education & entertainment. This distinction merely relieves people of the responsibility of looking onto the matter.

"Why laugh and grow fat when you can experience anguish and success in a strait jacket?"
- Marshall McLuhan

What would a weekend be without Wondertrash Random Eye Candy. Look and be amazed, as Aishwarya Rai gets up close and personal with one of her Bollywood colleagues.
